A rationale for change
Embarking on a journey of personal and organisational change is not an easy task. It is difficult to break the mould of known activities and outcomes, and venture into an unknown that offers both untold possibilities, but also a great risk of failure. However, the world's game changers were always those people and organisations who took the road less travelled, who embarked on the difficult journeys of discovery and creation.
We have reached a tipping point. Traditional services for people with intellectual and other disabilities are proving increasingly out-dated. They may provide temporary comfort, but not lifetime independence, and they do not take the individual's needs and wishes into account. Their one-size-fits-all approach is not desirable, nor sustaiable, and many services do not function in the spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In this respect, the New Paths to InclUsion Network was an innovative project. It empowered organisations to find and create change from within, following the ground breaking Theory U. Having gone through the process, partners can now share their learning, and guide others on the journey to a better life for all.
A useful resource
The Online Knowledge Centre is meant to be a one-stop-shop for organisational change. You can find a six-module curriculum in person-centred approaches, as well as related multiplication courses. You can also discover different Theory U tools, and get inspired by success stories from our partners.
The Online Knowledge Centre is meant to be a "living" online space, which will only grow in the next days and months, once more and more knowledge seeds are planted, and experiences are collected!
