Person-Centred Planning is a way of supporting people with and without disabilities to make choices and changes in their life, which they could not be able to make by themselves. It is a way of helping people to plan their future and organise any support and services they may need.

Person-Centred Planning helps people to organise and gather Circles of Support. They come together at different meetings to help the person find out about the things that she or he wants to change in life. In these meetings, information is gathered in creative ways and it is used to work out a plan of action. The aim of this plan is to determine what the person wants to achieve and the support needed to make this happen.

Person-centred thinking and planning are also great ways to show organisations what is important to people and how support can be organised that makes sense to them.

The New Paths to Inclusion Netwok builds on the results of the previous New Paths to Inclusion project (2009-2011) which helped to advance person-centred approaches and practice in Europe. The project produced a Training Course Curriculum on Person Centred Planning.

In order to make sure that all countries involved in the Network have a good foundation in Person Cented Planning, the Network partnership will use this Curriculum to organise national trainings on Person-Centred Planning in Slovakia (Social Work Advisory Board), Croatia (Association for Promoting Inclusion), Denmark (LEV), Romania (Pentru Voi), Portugal (Fenacerci) and Spain (FEAPS).

National trainings will be open to a diverse group of participants, including self-advocates, service users, service-providers, personal assistants, parents, teachers decision-makers and professionals.

This work package is led by 'Quip – Association for Change' based in the Czech Republic. During a preparatory workshop held in Prague on 5th-6th May 2013, the project partnership agreed on the content and organisation of the seminars which are taking place in autumn.
